What are frame tents?
A modern marquee design using a strong aluminium frame instead of centre poles and ropes — giving a clean look and more usable space.

Other Uses of Frame Tents
- House extensions: often used to create an extra room. Because they need no guy ropes, frame structures can easily butt up against the side of a building to serve as an extension to a house.
- Walkways: similarly, narrow frame tents can serve as a walkway between larger marquees, or between marquees and a building.
- Catering tents: frame tents of various sizes can easily serve as catering tents, next to a main marquee.
Frame Structure FAQs
A frame marquee is supported by an aluminium structure, so it doesn’t need a central pole or external guy ropes. This gives you a completely open interior and allows it to be installed on a wider range of surfaces, including hard ground and tighter spaces.
A traditional pole marquee uses centre poles and tensioned ropes for support. This creates a more classic look, but requires more surrounding space for ropes and includes internal poles that can affect layout.

Often, yes. Because there are no guy ropes, frame marquees can make full use of the available area and fit into tighter or more awkward spaces. They require less space around them than pole marquees and can usually be positioned close to walls, fences, or buildings.
Each leg of the marquee is fixed directly to the ground. On grass, this is done using metal stakes driven into the ground. On hard surfaces, heavy weights (such as water or concrete blocks) are attached to each leg to hold it securely in place.
